C25K update

So I mentioned awhile back that I was going to try the program C25K (couch to 5k).  It’s the program that was designed to help you go from a couch potato to running a 5k.  I have renamed it C25I.  (couch to 5 injuries).  I have 2 shin splints, 2 shore ankles and 1 pulled hamstring!  A friend who is a runner keeps telling me to just hang in there and work through the pain, but I have decided not to.  The pain is causing issues in both my home and work life so it’s not realistic to think that I can keep going with the program.  I will stick to the elliptical and recumbent bike for my cardio workouts from now on!

Saffron Extract

So, I happened to see a re-run of the Dr. Oz show on Friday.  I caught the portion of the show that was dealing with emotional and stress eating.  Hello?  Right up my alley!  Anyway, Dr.Oz was discussing the benefits of a supplement called saffron extract. Supposedly, the brain reacts to the extract much in the same way that it reacts to carbohydrates, but without overeating thus you eat less.

I have always been cautious of taking any kind of medication be it prescription, over the counter, or “natural”.  At this point in my life I take 2 high blood pressure meds and a woman’s multivitamin, but after doing some research over the weekend I think that I am willing to give this one a try.

I will keep you posted!

Blogging

It was brought to my attention that I have been neglecting my blogging duties in this contest.  I fully admit to it and apologize to my fellow contestants.  However, I have to say that it was not intentional.  I have been struggling with blogging since the beginning of the contest.  In my last post I talked about the fact that I needed to overcome my issue with emotional and stress eating.  This is still the case, but I feel that some of my issues for overeating are too personal to discuss in a public forum and would bring about more stress in the end.

At this point let’s just say that I am trying to bring about change in my life.  I feel like I keep running into different road blocks and I need to find the correct map to point me in the right direction around those road blocks!

Anybody have a  GPS!!

Emotional/Stress Eating

I have realized over the past few weeks that in order to have any success with weight loss, I will have to get a handle on eating due to stress and emotions.  This is however much easier said than done.  I know that I am not alone in this issue. As a matter of fact, I would guess that many of my Lighten Up competitors suffer with the same problem.  If anyone has any suggestions, I would be open to them.  Thanks!
